Saving the heart of Penfield means
we must Save Shadow Pines!
Approximately 220 acres of prime open space in the heart of Penfield are at risk from being turned from a beautiful golf course into a sprawling housing development -- perhaps with as many as 290 houses! This land has served as an essential buffer for the community from a massive industrial quarry across the street that's owned by Dolomite/Old Castle, the same company that owns the golf course. Penfield does not have the infrastructure to support such a large development in this area. Do you want more traffic on Browncroft, Atlantic, Five Mile Line Drive and Huntington Meadow? Do you want your school property taxes to increase to accommodate more students than our schools can currently provide for? Do you think it makes sense to build a new neighborhood directly across the street from a giant quarry which regularly blasts with dynamite that's noisey and rumbles the ground (some home owners further away from the quarry already complain of broken windows and cracked foundations).
